GeoStudio Fundamentals Plus Public Workshop | Brisbane, Australia
This three day course will cover the fundamentals of GeoStudio Core products for investigating slope stability and groundwater flow. The Interoperability between GeoStudio and other Seequent products will also be covered.
Soil and Rock Logging 2023 | TBA
This course is expected to return in May 2023. The Australian Geomechanics Society is planning to cover Rock and Soil Logging courses. This course will aim to educate geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, geo-technicians and other relevant professionals in logging and/or interpreting soil and rock logs in accordance with AS1726 – Geotechnical Site Investigations. In addition, the significant changes to AS 1726 contained within the 2017 Revision will be discussed in detail.
Advancing GIS Skills for Geotechnical Investigations 2023 | Online
Led by led by Colin Mazengarb, this new, more advanced course aims to cover a range of GIS tasks encountered during typical geotechnical investigations. This intermediate level course will be suited for geotechnical practitioners who have previously done the introductory course or already have reasonable experience in GIS software, including QGIS.
In person attendance is available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

AusIMM in conjunction with industry experts have developed a Professional Certificate in Tailings Management. This interactive, online course will give attendees 40 hours of professional development and will include case-studies covering geotechnical, geochemical, governance, closure and socio-economic aspects of tailings management. The course runs for eight weeks.

This introductory ACG training course is to be presented by Professor Phil Dight. He brings together a wealth of experience to share with course participants.
This course provides a holistic big picture overview of geotechnical design and operational management processes; takes delegates sequentially through the various stages of the slope stability design process; covers operational issues related to managing open pit operations from a geotechnical perspective; reviews selected open pit failures and discuss how the geotechnical industry addresses stability problems in all parts of the world.
Design and Construction of Large Diameter Foundation Bored Piles 2023 | Online Course

This online course will provide geotechnical professionals with an introduction to using geographical information systems (GIS). The course will cover:

This 50hr 6 week course delivered by Dr. Alun Thomas, looks at the over-arching principles of design in the context of soft ground. Topics such as safety, risk management, sustainability and design codes will be covered in outline. The key aspects of geotechnics will be highlighted, on the assumption that the attendees have a basic understanding of this subject already. Additionally, this course provides insight into many related topics such as ground treatment, instrumentation and monitoring and sustainability. Advanced Soil Mechanics 2023 | Online Course
This is a 50hr course running 6 weeks, designed for college and university students alongside current studies, practitioner, technicians and engineers alike, wishing to learn or refresh their knowledge of soil mechanics. Professor Ian Smith provides introduction to the settlement behaviour of soils underloading, followed by coverage of the key subject of shear strength of soils. Application of the theory in civil engineering is made through the subjects of bearing capacity followed by introduction to the design procedures of Eurocode 7. To conclude, the design of shallow foundations in accordance with Eurocode 7, is covered.

Managing Seismic Risk in Underground Metalliferous Mines Course 2023 | Perth, Australia
Hard rock mines in deep and high stress environments often require the use of seismic systems to enable operators to manage seismic risk posed to the workforce, the mining investment and the environment. Seismic data is also used in assessing the rock mass response to mining activities where source parameters are used in the interpretation of rock mass failure mechanisms, the calibration of numerical modelling, and the interpretation of failure mechanics of the rock mass.
