Advanced Soil Mechanics

This is a 50hr 6 week course designed for college and university students alongside current studies, practitioner, technicians and engineers alike, wishing to learn or refresh their knowledge of soil mechanics. Professor Ian Smith provides introduction to the settlement behaviour of soils underloading, followed by coverage of the key subject of shear strength of soils. Application of the theory in civil engineering is made through the subjects of bearing capacity followed by introduction to the design procedures of Eurocode 7. To conclude, the design of shallow foundations in accordance with Eurocode 7, is covered.
